MUD Sound Protocol

Introduction to MUD Sounds

Legends of Kallisti MUD is equipped with the MUD Sound Protocol (MSP). We have worked very hard to create a pack of high quality sounds for this MUD and feel that it will greatly enhance your experience of the game. The sound pack will be updated on rare occasion - check here periodically for the most recent sound pack.

Last soundpack update: Tuesday April 2, 2019

Setup Instructions for Mudlet

  1. The version of Mudlet that you need to download is the public test build.
  2. When connecting to Kallisti, you need to first type: mudlet access on and then mudlet access reader for the accessibility settings to be in effect.
  3. Download msppack.zip from the kallisti website and unzip it into the "media" directory under your profile.
  4. You'll need to install the MSP module if you don't have it: Download this file from mudlet: https://wiki.mudlet.org/images/d/db/MSP.zip
  5. Under tools, media manager (or press alt-i) click install, navigate to where you downloaded the MSP.zip and click open.
  6. Under options, preferences, make sure "Enable MSP (Mud Sound Protocol)" is enabled on the General tab in the Game protocols section.
  7. When logged in to Kallisti type "toggle sound on" . You should now have working sound.

Setup Instructions for CMUD

  1. Download msppack.zip (.zip, 12 mB) OR msppack.exe (Windows self-installer, 2.6 mB).
  2. Unzip the files into your 'CMUD\KallistiMUD\Sounds' directory. This directory may be slightly different depending on your setup, but it is probably in your My Documents\My Games. If you do not have a "Sounds" directory under 'CMUD\KallistiMUD' then simply create one and put the sounds in there. The location of the sound files is crucial to getting the sound to work.
  3. In CMUD go to Options->Sounds and click on the MSP tab on the left and then in the 'Sound Protocol (MSP) Options' tab on the top. Make sure that 'Enable Sound Protocol (MSP)' is checked.
  4. If you would like CMUD to try to download new sounds automatically, click 'Enable sound downloading' and enter http://www.kallistimud.com/files/msppack.zip in the Default URL path field. If you don't do this, you will need to check the website for updates as they happen.
  5. Click on the Sounds tab on the left and make sure 'Enable Sounds' is checked and the path to your sounds directory is entered into 'Sounds Directory'. For Ivy this is c:\Users\Ivy\Documents\My Games\CMUD\KallistiMud\Sounds (This may be slightly different depending on your CMUD version and Windows setup.)
  6. Type toggle sound in the game to turn sounds on for your character. You will have to do this for each character for which you want sounds enabled.

Setup Instructions for zMUD

  1. Download msppack.zip (.zip, 12 mB) OR msppack.exe (Windows self-installer, 2.6 mB).
  2. Unzip the files into your 'ZMUD\LegendsofKallisti\Sounds' directory. This directory may be slightly different depending on your setup. If you do not have a "Sounds" directory under 'ZMUD\LegendsofKallisti' then simply create one and put the sounds in there. The location of the sound files is crucial to getting the sound to work. If you downloaded the self-installer, run it and skip to step 3.
  3. In ZMUD go to View->Preferences->Sounds and click 'Enable Sounds'. (This may be slightly different depending on your ZMUD version.)
  4. Type toggle sound in the game to turn sounds on for your character. You will have to do this for each character for which you want sounds enabled.

Setup Instructions for WinTin

  1. Download msppack.zip (.zip, 12 mB) OR msppack.exe (Windows self-installer, 2.6 mB).
  2. Unzip the sound files into your wintin directory. If you downloaded the self-installer, run it and skip to step 3.
  3. In Wintin go to 'Edit->Mud Sound Protocol' and check 'Enable MSP Sounds'.
  4. In that same window under 'Directory for Sound files:' type in a period (.).
  5. Type toggle sound in the game to turn sounds on for your character. You will have to do this for each character for which you want sounds enabled.
  6. You might want to also type this within Wintin to get rid of all the SOUND messages: '#gag !SOUND'

Note: You cannot be using another application that plays sounds at the same time you use wintin. (Not an issue for zMUD/CMUD users.)
